Wedding Stories

It's not for everyone, but a proposal on the scoreboard certainly makes a splash!

Funny and Sentimental Wedding Stories

Every wedding is made up of hundreds of little moments. Some are sweet, some are embarrassing, and some are downright hilarious. Check out these funny and sentimental wedding stories...

One bride I knew was marrying a very sentimental young man. When he proposed to her, it was printed on the dessert menu of the restaurant which had been the site of their very first date. And when it came time to tie the knot, the groom took one look at his lovely bride coming towards him down the aisle, and burst out sobbing. He was so overcome with emotion that the ceremony had to be stopped while his parents tried to help him regain his composure. That was one bride who never had to wonder if her groom really thought she looked pretty in her wedding dress!

Another groom that I know had a real knack with words. He was marrying a dyed-in-the-wool Yankees fan, and for his proposal, he flashed "Will you marry me?" on the Jumbotron at Yankee stadium. But the funniest part came during their wedding vows, which the bride and groom wrote themselves. The bride told a story about how early in their relationship he had the nerve to phone her during a Yankees playoff game. She was so mad that she nearly broke up with him that night! The groom, a man who learns from his mistakes, included a promise in his wedding vows to never again interrupt his bride when the Yankees were on tv. Years later, they are happily married with two kids - both die-hard Yankees fans, no doubt.

Sometimes the funny moments come after the wedding is officially over. One bride and groom tied the knot at a grand country estate, and had reserved a private home on the estate for their wedding night. The groom had gone back down to the main house to wrap up a few details, promising his bride he would return as soon as possible. The only problem was that the bride was left alone, still in her vintage wedding gown with buttons all the way down the back. Unable to reach the buttons herself, the poor woman was stuck in her dress until her groom finally returned. By then she was dying to get out of her wedding dress, not that the groom minded!
